176 People feared Dead As Plane Crashes on Landing at Muan Airport

Three declared missing and two rescued.

A tragic incident in Muan city, South Korea, has resulted in the loss of at least 176 lives after a passenger aircraft caught fire following a runway skid and subsequent crash, according to the National Fire Agency of the country.

The disaster took place on Sunday at 9:03 AM local time (00:03 GMT), involving a Jeju Air flight that was arriving from Bangkok, Thailand. The aircraft was carrying 175 passengers and six crew members when it landed at Muan International Airport, situated approximately 289 kilometers (179 miles) southwest of Seoul.

Rescue teams and firefighters were observed working at the scene of the wreckage at Muan International Airport, attempting to locate any survivors from the incident.

Earlier in the week an Azerbaijan Airlines plane crashed after requesting an emergency landing in Kazakhstan. At least 28 people survived the crash.
