Abia PDP Slams Ude Oko Chukwu’s Record, Says 20 Years In Power Yielded “No Tangible Legacy”

The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched a scathing assessment of former Deputy Governor Ude Oko Chukwu’s performance during his two decades in the party, following his recent resignation.

Chukwu, who served 12 years in the Abia State House of Assembly, including four as Speaker and eight years as Deputy Governor, announced his departure from the PDP on August 5, 2025, citing the move as “the best course of action” for him at this time.

He stated that, “While it was a difficult decision to make, it is the best course of action for me at this time. I am most grateful for the opportunities the party availed me to serve at various levels and appreciate the experience and knowledge gained during my membership of the party.”

However, the state PDP Chairman, Abraham Amah, dismissed the exit as “liberation” for the party, alleging that Chukwu’s long political career left no meaningful mark on the state.

“He singlehandedly managed Abia’s Internally Generated Revenue for eight years, yet the state’s fiscal condition worsened, with no traceable infrastructure or economic transformation linked to his tenure,” Amah said.

“In Ohafia, his home LGA, there is no water, no electricity, no empowerment, and no political legacy. His people remain in darkness while he enjoyed the comfort of Government House.”

The PDP accused Chukwu of fleeing from the consequences of what it described as his political irrelevance, claiming his relevance “had expired long ago” and that he was sustained only by the party structure.

“This is not a time to grieve but to rejoice. declared. PDP has ejected a parasitic political element. What a shameful scorecard,” Amah said.
