AC Milan are on the verge of signing Nigerian striker Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen, with the two clubs having reached a verbal agreement over a loan move that includes a €30 million purchase option.
The Serie A side are now preparing formal documents while also holding talks with the 24-year-old forward over personal terms, which remain the final step before the deal is completed.
Boniface is understood to have approved the switch, signalling his readiness to begin a new chapter in Italy.
The move marks a significant shift in Milan’s transfer strategy, as the club had long been linked with Rasmus Højlund and Dusan Vlahovic in their search for a striker.
Instead, they are now set to land Boniface, who scored 11 Bundesliga goals last season and impressed with his strength, pace and pressing under Xabi Alonso’s system.
Leverkusen, who saw their title defence fall short last campaign, are weighing the terms of the proposal but are increasingly open to the agreement.
Milan, meanwhile, view Boniface as an ideal fit to lead their attack as they prepare for a new era under coach Massimiliano Allegri.
