Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji believes his team remains one of the best in Europe but acknowledges they must prove it in every game.

After a rocky end to 2024, City have regained momentum with key wins over Chelsea and Club Brugge, boosting confidence ahead of their upcoming fixtures.

With a crucial Premier League clash against Arsenal on the horizon, Akanji stressed the importance of taking it one game at a time.

“We have to go match by match. Arsenal is next, and we need to recover well and be ready for the challenge,” he said.

City’s victory over Club Brugge secured their place in the Champions League playoffs, setting up yet another showdown with Real Madrid. The Swiss international remains confident, stating, “We can beat every team in Europe, and we’re ready for the challenge.”

The first leg against Madrid will take place at the Etihad on February 11, with the return fixture a week later.
