Senate President Godswill Akpabio has told President Bola Tinubu that he should prepare to receive additional governors from opposition parties into the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing growing discontent among opposition leaders and tangible public appreciation for Tinubu’s policies.
Speaking in Owerri, Imo State, at the book launch titled “Ten Years of Impactful Leadership of the APC Administration in Nigeria” (authored by Governor Hope Uzodimma), which included the commissioning of several projects by President Tinubu, Akpabio said many governors are “ready to be received” into APC.
He further argued that ordinary Nigerians—students, farmers, business people—are already seeing the effects of Tinubu’s reform package.
According to him, these citizens are speaking of improvements, which, he believes, validates the performance of the current administration.
Akpabio also praised Governor Uzodimma for documenting the APC’s achievements over the past ten years and stressed that progress should be measured by actual deliverables rather than rhetoric.
Reflecting on his own political history, Akpabio recalled his time as governor of Akwa Ibom State, saying that even back then his administration emphasized meaningful projects.
