Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz delivered a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory over Grigor Dimitrov on Wednesday, securing his spot in the Indian Wells quarter-finals and keeping his three-peat hopes alive.

The world No. 3 overcame tricky wind conditions to dominate an opponent who had beaten him twice before. Alcaraz will now face Francisco Cerundolo for a place in the semi-finals.

Elsewhere, Britain’s Jack Draper stunned 2022 champion Taylor Fritz 7-5, 6-4, setting up a clash with Ben Shelton, the only American left in the men’s draw.

In the women’s event, Madison Keys fought back from the brink of defeat to edge Donna Vekic 4-6, 7-6 (7), 6-3.

The Australian Open champion now faces Belinda Bencic, who upset third-ranked Coco Gauff in a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 battle.

Meanwhile, world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka eased past Sonay Kartal 6-1, 6-2 and will meet Liudmila Samsonova, who knocked out sixth-ranked Jasmine Paolini.
