The Libyan Football Federation has announced the appointment of Aliou Cissé as the new head coach of the national team.
The AFCON-winning coach, who led Senegal to continental glory in 2022, will take charge until 2027, the federation confirmed in a statement on Facebook.
“We welcome the best coach in Africa,” the statement read, though no contract details were disclosed.
Cissé, 48, replaces Nasser Al-Hadhiri, who had been in charge since September 2024. He will be officially unveiled in Tripoli on March 13.
While Libya failed to qualify for the upcoming AFCON in Morocco, they currently sit second in their World Cup qualifying group and are set to face Angola later this month.
