The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed readiness for the November 16 gubernatorial election in Ondo State.
According to the INEC National Commissioner for Ondo/Ogun/Osun states, Professor Kunle Ajayi, we have done our own work, we are proud of what we have done and we will not disappoint the people of Ondo State. He made the disclosure why speaking on Channel’s TV program on Friday November 15, 2024. He gave the assurance that the independent body will not fail the people in carrying out a free and fair election in the state.
Responding to question on distribution of sensitive materials, the commissioner confirmed that all the Registered Areas in Ondo State have received their sensitive materials which is a remarkable improvement when compared to the Edo election conducted on September 21, 2024.
This election is seen as litmus test for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) especially from its mistake in the earlier Edo state Guber poll.
Meanwhile, it was reported few days to the election that three other Guber contestant have withdrawn from the race, endorsing Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All-Progressives Congress (APC). These candidates include those from the Accord Party (AP), the National Rescue Movement (NRM), and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
