Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly reached an agreement to become Brazil’s new head coach in June, with his Real Madrid future all but sealed following a disappointing climax to the season.

Real were dumped out of the Champions League by Arsenal in a bruising 5-1 quarter-final defeat and lost the Copa del Rey final to Barcelona on Saturday, their third El Clasico loss of the campaign.

Despite lifting the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Intercontinental Cup, questions have intensified over Ancelotti’s position, and it now appears he will depart a year before his contract ends in 2026.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Ancelotti will formally take over Brazil ahead of their June World Cup qualifiers, meaning he’ll miss Madrid’s Club World Cup campaign in the United States.

Los Blancos must now decide between naming a caretaker, with Santiago Solari a strong option or fast-tracking a permanent replacement, with Xabi Alonso the leading candidate.

Ancelotti could still deliver a La Liga title before his exit, but barring a late surge, his second spell in charge appears to be heading for a bittersweet farewell.
