The NBA has fined Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards and Orlando
Magic’s Desmond Bane $25,000 each for throwing game balls “with force” into the
crowd.
Edwards was sanctioned after hurling the ball downcourt at halftime of Minnesota’s
124-121 win over the Portland Trail Blazers.
The 24-year-old, who scored 34 points in the victory, has been in strong form this
season and was recently named NBA All-Star Game MVP.
Bane received the same fine after launching the ball into the stands following
Orlando’s 110-109 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
The guard, averaging just over 20 points per game, has faced similar discipline
before, including a $35,000 fine in December for an unsportsmanlike incident.
The league said both incidents involved the ball being thrown with force, prompting
the financial penalties.
