The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed the inauguration of its National Campaign Council for the upcoming Anambra State governorship election.
In a statement posted on the party’s official X handle on Thursday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka announced that the inauguration, originally scheduled for Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, has been rescheduled.
Morka assured party stakeholders that a new date would be communicated soon, reiterating the APC’s commitment to putting up a strong performance in the November 8 governorship poll.
“The party deeply regrets any inconvenience this change may cause and assures all stakeholders of its unwavering commitment to ensuring a successful outing in the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election,” the statement read.
The postponement comes as major political parties step up preparations for what is expected to be one of the most fiercely contested elections in Anambra’s recent history.
Anambra has been a tough battleground for the APC, with the state under continuous APGA control since 2006.
In the 2021 election, APC candidate Senator Andy Uba placed third behind APGA’s Charles Soludo and PDP’s Valentine Ozigbo, a result that highlighted the party’s struggle to gain traction in the South-East despite its federal dominance.
Still, the APC has been working to consolidate its structure in the state, using federal leverage and forming alliances with local politicians in a bid to break APGA’s hold.
The November poll is seen as a crucial test of the party’s strength and its ability to expand its footprint in the region.
