Arsenal Held as Forest Frustrate League Leaders
Arsenal missed the chance to fully capitalise on Manchester City’s slip-up as they were held to a
frustrating 0-0 draw by Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday.
City’s earlier 2-0 defeat to Manchester United had handed Mikel Arteta’s side the opportunity to
open a nine-point gap at the summit, but despite controlling the contest, the Gunners could not
find a breakthrough.
Clear chances came and went, with Gabriel Martinelli squandering an open goal, while Declan
Rice, Mikel Merino and Bukayo Saka also failed to convert promising openings.
Arteta cut a frustrated figure afterwards, pointing to his side’s dominance and the fact they
conceded no shots on target, while crediting Forest’s organisation and game management.
Arsenal were also denied a late penalty after a VAR review ruled out a handball against Ola
Aina.
The draw keeps Arsenal top on 50 points, seven clear of City and Aston Villa.
