Arsenal are preparing to open formal negotiations with Bukayo Saka over a contract extension as the forward enters the final two years of his current deal.

Saka, sidelined since December due to a severe hamstring injury that required surgery, remains a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s plans.

The club is eager to secure his long-term future and will soon meet with his representatives to initiate discussions.

The 23-year-old England international signed his current contract in 2022, reportedly worth at least £10 million per season, but with his deal set to expire in 2027, Arsenal want to avoid any uncertainty over their star player’s future. Talks are expected to progress in the coming months.

Saka’s talent has long attracted interest from top European clubs, with Manchester City previously monitoring his situation. If negotiations stall, other suitors will likely emerge.

However, Arsenal’s resurgence as Premier League title contenders and continued Champions League involvement could strengthen their position in contract talks.

For now, Saka is focused on his recovery, with Arteta recently confirming he has a good chance of returning after the international break. Arsenal face Fulham at the Emirates Stadium on April 1, and the winger could make his long-awaited comeback.

Saka isn’t the only player whose contract situation is under review. Thomas Partey and Jorginho are both set to leave as free agents this summer, while Leandro Trossard, whose deal expires in 2026, has held preliminary talks over an extension.

Meanwhile, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães—both crucial to Arteta’s squad—also see their contracts run out in 2027.

Saliba recently confirmed that formal negotiations have not yet begun but expressed his happiness at the club, while Magalhães has drawn interest from Saudi Arabia.

With multiple key players approaching the final stretch of their contracts, Arsenal are keen to secure their core squad for the long term—starting with Saka.
