Mikel Arteta hailed his Arsenal side after a commanding 3–1 victory over FC Bayern Munich on Wednesday night, a result that leaves the Gunners clear at the top of their UEFA Champions League group with five wins from five.
Arsenal outclassed the six-time European champions in a dominant second half. Jurrien Timber’s early opener was cancelled out by 17-year-old Lennart Karl, but Arsenal’s response after the break was emphatic.
Noni Madueke restored the lead with his first goal for the club, and Gabriel Martinelli punished a rare error from Manuel Neuer to seal the win.
Arteta described Bayern as “the best team in Europe” and praised his players for rising to the challenge.
The victory followed their 4–1 win over Tottenham Hotspur and strengthened belief that Arsenal could be entering a defining phase of their development.
Despite injuries to key figures such as Gabriel Magalhaes, Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres, Arsenal’s depth shone through, with two substitutes finding the net.
Arteta stressed the need for focus, with a Premier League showdown against in-form Chelsea next.
“Enjoy it tonight, then prepare for Stamford Bridge,” he said, urging his players to keep their momentum as qualification for the last 16 edges closer.
