Arteta Confirms Arsenal’s Search for Striker to Boost Title Challenge

January 24, 2025

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed the club is “actively looking” to sign a striker in the January transfer window to strengthen their attacking options.

The Gunners have been hit by injuries to key forwards Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus, leaving them short in attack.

Currently trailing Premier League leaders Liverpool by six points, Arsenal have also suffered setbacks in domestic cup competitions, highlighting their need for more firepower up front.

Arteta admitted the team needs reinforcements but stressed the importance of signing the “right player” who can make an immediate impact.

Despite being linked with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Wolves’ Matheus Cunha, Arteta remained cautious, stating that securing a deal depends on several market factors beyond the club’s control.

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice recently hinted at a possible signing, but Arteta insisted his squad remains focused and understands the current challenges.

The Arsenal boss also revealed that he consults his players for insights on potential targets, emphasizing the importance of character, consistency, and adaptability in new signings.
