Atalanta secured a dramatic 3-2 win over Empoli, with Charles De Ketelaere’s late strike ensuring they lead Serie A at Christmas for the first time.
Lorenzo Colombo’s volley gave Empoli an early advantage, but Atalanta hit back through De Ketelaere’s diving header and Ademola Lookman’s stoppage-time goal.
Empoli leveled with a Sebastiano Esposito penalty before De Ketelaere sealed the points late on.
With 11 consecutive league wins, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side sits two points ahead of Napoli as they chase their first-ever Scudetto.
