Atalanta came from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1 in the UEFA Champions League, claiming just their second win against English opposition and stretching the Blues’ winless away run in Europe to five games.
Joao Pedro’s first-half finish, confirmed after a VAR check, gave Chelsea control going into the break.
But the match flipped after half-time. Gianluca Scamacca headed in a Charles De Ketelaere cross to level, before De Ketelaere’s driven effort deflected off Marc Cucurella and Robert Sánchez to complete the turnaround.
Marco Carnesecchi made key late saves to deny Chelsea an equaliser, sealing a spirited home victory for Atalanta and handing the visitors their first Champions League defeat since matchday one.
