Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State, marking a significant shift in Nigeria’s opposition landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The registration ceremony took place on Monday, following Atiku’s announcement to ADC supporters and local stakeholders over the weekend.
According to a statement from Abdul Rasheeth, one of Atiku’s aides, the development has been officially confirmed.
Footage and photos from the event captured jubilant supporters greeting Atiku’s convoy with drumbeats, songs, and placards bearing his image. The former vice president waved to the crowd and received his ADC membership card from his vehicle.
