Olympique Marseille have re-signed former Arsenal and Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on a free transfer, the Ligue 1 club confirmed on Thursday.

The 36-year-old Gabon international returns to the Stade Vélodrome after spending a single season in Saudi Arabia with Al Qadsiah, where he signed a two-year deal in July 2024 before terminating the contract earlier this month.

Aubameyang had initially joined Marseille in 2023 and enjoyed a prolific 2023/24 campaign, netting 30 goals in all competitions.

His haul made him the first Marseille player to reach that mark since Didier Drogba achieved the feat two decades ago, cementing his status as a fan favorite before his brief move to the Middle East.

The veteran forward’s return is seen as a major boost for Marseille as they aim to reclaim domestic glory and strengthen their European ambitions, with fans eager to see him replicate his lethal form in front of goal.
