Afrobeats superstar Ayra Starr has officially confirmed her move to New York City as part of her growing push toward global domination.
The 23-year-old singer revealed in a recent video interview that she has been living in the American metropolis for nearly two months. According to her, settling in has been surprisingly easy thanks to the city’s vibrant energy and its large African — especially Nigerian — community.
Ayra Starr described New York as sharing the same pace, cultural rhythm, and liveliness she’s used to in Lagos, making the transition feel natural.
“New York reminds me so much of Lagos. So it feels like home. There are a lot of Nigerians here. There’s a huge African diaspora here,” she shared.
Her relocation marks a strategic move to elevate her international career while staying connected to her roots through the familiar atmosphere she’s found in NYC.
