Barcelona have confirmed that teenage star Lamine Yamal has signed a new long-term deal and will wear the club’s iconic No.10 shirt from next season.
The 18-year-old winger has penned a contract that runs until 2031, further cementing his place as the future of the Catalan giants.
Yamal will inherit the No.10 jersey previously worn by Ansu Fati, and most famously by club legends Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho, and Diego Maradona.
Following the announcement, Yamal declared: “Messi has made his path, I will make my own,” underlining his intent to forge a distinct legacy at Camp Nou.
Yamal played a pivotal role in Barcelona’s La Liga and Copa del Rey triumphs in the 2024-25 season and is already being touted as a Ballon d’Or contender.
His performances have drawn comparisons to Messi, though the youngster insists he’s focused on writing his own story.
The contract reportedly includes a staggering weekly wage of £325,000, equating to a €15 million annual salary that could rise to €20 million with bonuses.
As he begins pre-season preparations, all eyes will be on Yamal heading into the 2025-26 campaign.
