Barcelona produced one of their most dramatic performances of the season on Saturday, coming from 3-1 down to defeat Celta Vigo 4-3 in a pulsating LaLiga clash, though the night ended on a worrying note with Robert Lewandowski forced off injured.
Raphinha was the hero for Hansi Flick’s side, scoring twice in the second half and converting a penalty in the 98th minute to secure all three points.
The Brazilian’s match-winning display marked his 30th goal for the club, and his emotional celebration with Flick after the final whistle highlighted the resilience and unity within the team.
“It’s one of those comebacks you never forget,” said Flick. “We made mistakes, yes, but the mentality to fight back was fantastic. The team never gave up.”
Celta Vigo had looked set for a shock victory after Borja Iglesias netted a brilliant hat-trick, giving the hosts a commanding lead.
But Barcelona, now seven points clear of Real Madrid (who face Athletic Bilbao on Sunday), showed grit to claw their way back into the title race.
However, celebrations were tempered by concern over Lewandowski’s condition. The striker limped off in the closing stages, clutching his leg, and could miss the upcoming Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid and the Champions League semi-final against Inter Milan.
“He will have an MRI tomorrow (today),” Flick confirmed. “We’ll know more soon.”
