Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea on a season-long loan, ending days of drama around the Senegal striker’s future.

The 24-year-old’s move initially collapsed when Chelsea recalled him after Liam Delap’s injury, but Jackson refused to return to London, pushing for the transfer to go ahead.

Bayern eventually agreed a €16.5m loan fee, the highest in their history, with an obligation to buy for €65m if certain conditions are met.

Jackson, who can play centrally or on the wings, will provide support for Harry Kane in attack. Bayern had been desperate for reinforcements after losing several forwards and dealing with injuries to Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies.

“I’m really happy to now be part of this great club,” said Jackson. “Everyone knows the legends who’ve played here and the success Bayern stands for.”

Sporting director Max Eberl praised Jackson’s determination to join, adding: “Nicolas was immediately keen to play for Bayern, so we’re especially pleased that things have finally worked out.”

The striker scored 30 goals in 81 games for Chelsea since arriving from Villarreal in 2023 but fell down the pecking order this summer.

He joins a long list of players leaving Stamford Bridge as the club continues to trim its squad.
