Carlo Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season to become Brazil’s new head coach, bringing the curtain down on one of the most decorated managerial reigns in the club’s history.

The Italian will officially take over the Seleção on 26 May, shortly after the La Liga campaign concludes.

His departure follows Sunday’s El Clasico defeat, a result that left Madrid seven points adrift of leaders Barcelona with just three games to play.

Ancelotti departs the Bernabeu with 15 trophies across two stints, including last season’s stunning Champions League and La Liga double.

But with this season now set to end without silverware for the first time in four years, his farewell arrives under a cloud of disappointment.
