Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt continued their remarkable European run with a
stunning victory over Inter Milan to move within touching distance of the UEFA
Champions League last 16.
Still in their domestic off season, Bodo produced a powerful second-half display in
the Arctic Circle, adding Inter to a growing list of heavyweights they have toppled
after recent wins over Manchester City and Atletico Madrid.
Sondre Fet gave the hosts a deserved lead after 20 minutes, finishing expertly after
Kasper Waarts Hogh’s clever backheel on the artificial surface.
Inter responded through Francesco Pio Esposito after sustained pressure, but the
Italian side were twice denied by the woodwork.
The game turned decisively just after the hour mark. Hogh set up Jens Petter Hauge
to fire into the top corner, stunning the visitors, before turning scorer himself minutes
later with a simple tap-in from Ole Didrik Blomberg’s square pass.
Inter, eight points clear in Serie A and Champions League finalists in two of the last
three seasons, were made to look ordinary as Bodo’s fairytale gathered even more
momentum.
