President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the deployment of 65 ambassadors-designate and high commissioners to diplomatic missions across various countries and to the United Nations.
According to the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the list comprises 31 non-career ambassadors and 34 career diplomats who have now been assigned to their respective posts.
The Nigerian Senate confirmed the nominees in December 2025 after they were screened by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Nigeria) has also been instructed to begin an induction programme for the envoys immediately. They are expected to assume their duties once they receive agrément — formal approval — from their host countries.
