Brentford have reached an agreement worth up to £42.5m to sign Bournemouth forward Dango Ouattara, setting a new club transfer record.

The 23-year-old Burkina Faso international is expected in London on Friday for a medical ahead of completing the move.

Ouattara, who scored nine goals in 37 appearances last season, is understood to have been keen on leaving after a limited role at the Vitality Stadium.

Nottingham Forest had shown interest earlier in the summer but instead moved for Ipswich winger Omari Hutchinson, while Brentford’s own pursuit of Hutchinson ended with a rejected £35m bid last month.

Ouattara’s arrival could have implications for Yoane Wissa’s future, although Bees boss Keith Andrews said the striker will miss Sunday’s Premier League opener at Nottingham Forest amid transfer speculation.

Newcastle United have already had a £25m plus £5m add-ons bid for the 28-year-old rejected.
