Stade Brestois delivered a battling performance to secure a 1-0 win over Monaco, holding their ground despite playing the final half-hour with 10 men.
The victory marks their third consecutive league triumph and extends Monaco’s poor run, with Les Monegasques now losing four of their last five matches.
Brest began brightly, buoyed by recent victories over Metz and Strasbourg. Early efforts from Daouda Guindo and Remy Labeau Lascary forced Lukas Hradecky into sharp saves as the hosts pressed for an opener.
Their persistence paid off in the 28th minute when Kamory Doumbia reacted quickest to head home after Hradecky initially stopped Ludovic Ajorque’s attempt.
Monaco, already struggling away from home, pushed for an equaliser but Takumi Minamino and Mika Biereth both failed to hit the target with promising chances before the interval.
Brest nearly doubled their lead early in the second half when Guindo rattled the crossbar with a free-kick.
Moments later, the home side’s task became more difficult as Ajorque was sent off following a VAR review for a reckless challenge on Lamine Camara.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Eric Roy’s side refused to fold. Monaco introduced Paul Pogba in search of inspiration, but Brest’s defensive organisation held firm.
Minamino dragged a late chance wide, and Biereth could not connect with a loose ball in the box as time slipped away.
Brest’s resilience ensured all three points, solidifying their upward momentum heading into the winter break.
