The Confederation of African Football has unveiled a record $10.4 million prize pool for the 2024 African Nations Championship, signalling a major boost for the tournament.
For the first time, the winners will earn $3.5 million up 75% from the previous $2 million prize.
The runners-up will receive $1.2 million, while third and fourth-place teams get $700,000 and $600,000 respectively.
Losing quarter-finalists will take home $450,000 each, with group-stage teams also guaranteed between $200,000 and $300,000 depending on standings.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe said the increase reflects the body’s commitment to growing African football and investing in local talent.
The CHAN, reserved for players in domestic leagues, will run from August 2 to 30, 2025, across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Nigeria returns to the tournament after missing the last edition and will hope to win their first title.
Coach Eric Chelle’s side qualified by defeating Ghana 3–1 on aggregate and will aim to go one better than their runner-up finish in 2018.
