The Confederation of African Football has appointed an all-Cameroonian refereeing crew for Monday’s Africa Cup of Nations round-of-16 encounter between Nigeria and Mozambique.
Abdou Abdel Mefire will serve as centre referee, with Elvis Noupoue and Carine Atezambong named as his assistants for the knockout fixture.
A CAF official said the appointment reflected confidence in the officiating team for a high-stakes contest. “At this stage of the tournament, experience and composure are key, and the selected officials meet those standards,” the official noted.
Monday’s match will be only the second AFCON meeting between Nigeria and Mozambique.
Their previous encounter came at the 2010 finals in Angola, where the Super Eagles claimed a convincing 3-0 victory.
The game will be played at the Complexe de Fes, with kick-off scheduled for 8pm, as Nigeria seek a place in the quarter-finals.
