Caleb University Appoints Pastor Foluke Adeboye as Chancellor
Caleb University, Imota, Lagos State, has appointed Foluke Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, as its new Chancellor.
The appointment was confirmed by the university’s Governing Council in a statement issued on Monday by its media officer, Mr. Olawale Adekoya, in Lagos. According to the statement, Adeboye’s appointment took effect on February 21, shortly after she was conferred with an honorary Doctor of Humanity (Honoris Causa) during the institution’s 15th convocation ceremony held on February 18.
Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Olalekan Asikhia, described the appointment as a significant milestone, noting that it signals “a new dawn where scholarship aligns with spirituality.”
He said Adeboye’s leadership, values, and longstanding contributions to education, youth mentorship, and moral development make her well-suited for the role. Asikhia added that she has, over the years, functioned not only as a partner to Enoch Adeboye but also as an institutional builder and a key figure in strengthening one of the world’s largest Christian movements.
According to him, the honorary doctorate conferred on her was an academic recognition of her lifelong investment in education, family values, and moral formation.
The Vice-Chancellor emphasised that the chancellorship is not merely ceremonial but a strategic role that involves presiding over convocations, conferring degrees, safeguarding institutional traditions, and providing moral direction for the university.
He noted that by appointing Adeboye as Chancellor, the university is reinforcing its commitment to character, ethical leadership, and value-driven scholarship. Asikhia further expressed confidence that her global visibility across faith, education, and humanitarian networks would foster stronger partnerships, philanthropic engagements, and initiatives that promote values-based leadership within the institution.
