CARRICK HITS OUT AT OFFICIALS AFTER DRAW AT BOURNEMOUTH.
Michael Carrick criticised officiating decisions after Manchester United were held to a
2-2 draw by Bournemouth.
United went ahead through Bruno Fernandes’ penalty but were denied another spot-
kick when Amad Diallo went down under a challenge from Adrien Truffert.
Bournemouth equalised soon after, and later capitalised again when Harry Maguire
was sent off and conceded a penalty.
Carrick said he could not understand the inconsistency, describing it as “crazy” that
one decision was given while a similar one was ignored.
He added that he could not get his head around the calls and felt VAR should have
stepped in to provide clarity and consistency.
He also stressed that United should have had another penalty and believed the
game could have been different, though he admitted it was “not the end of the world”
and insisted the team would “come back stronger” after the break.
