NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has hailed the CHAN Eagles’ historic 3-1 victory over Ghana as a defining moment for Nigerian football, calling it a precursor to greater achievements in 2025.

Speaking after the game at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Gusau praised the team for their resilience and determination in securing a first-ever win against Ghana in an African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier.

“Ending the year with this win is a remarkable feat,” Gusau said. “Earning our place in the CHAN tournament was a major goal, and the team’s performance reflects the Nigerian spirit of overcoming challenges. Now, we must focus on preparing thoroughly to compete for the title in East Africa next year.”

The victory not only secured Nigeria’s spot at the 8th CHAN tournament in February 2025, hosted across Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda, but also offered hope for a resurgence in Nigerian football.

Gusau commended the fans for their unwavering support and reiterated the NFF’s commitment to building on this momentum.

With the win, the CHAN Eagles rewrote the narrative of their rivalry with Ghana, setting the stage for what could be a memorable campaign in East Africa.
