Chelsea Crush PSG to Claim Club World Cup Crown

CHELSEA

-Chelsea defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 at the MetLife Stadium to become the first champions of FIFA’s revamped Club World Cup.

Cole Palmer was the star, scoring twice in the first half—first slotting home from Malo Gusto’s pass, then weaving through defenders for a superb solo goal.

Joao Pedro added a third with a classy chip over Gianluigi Donnarumma, capping a dominant performance by Enzo Maresca’s side.

PSG, who had hoped to complete a clean sweep of trophies this season, were thwarted by Chelsea’s aggressive press and clinical finishing.

Robert Sanchez produced key saves to deny Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha, while PSG’s João Neves was sent off late for pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair.

Chelsea, who also lifted the UEFA Conference League in May, collect over £90 million in prize money and add another trophy to Maresca’s promising start in charge.

PSG miss out on becoming the first side since Barcelona in 2015 to win the Club World Cup, Champions League, and domestic double in the same season.

Chelsea’s Cole Palmer was named both Superior Player of the Match and Best Player of the Tournament, while his teammate Robert Sanchez won Best Goalkeeper. PSG’s Désiré Doué received the award for Young Player of the Tournament.
