Chelsea has reported a Premier League record pre-tax loss of £262.4 million for the
year ending June 2025.
The figure surpasses the previous record set by Manchester City, despite the club
generating £490.9 million in revenue, its second-highest ever.
Chelsea attributed the losses partly to increased operating costs, having posted a
profit of the previous year was boosted by the sale of their women’s team to a subsidiary.
The financial update follows the club’s recent breach of Premier League rules over
undisclosed payments under former owner Roman Abramovich, which resulted in a
£10.75 million fine and a suspended transfer ban.
However, Chelsea avoided a points deduction after self-reporting the issue and
cooperating with authorities, and was still deemed compliant with profitability rules.
The club also revealed its women’s team recorded a £17.1 million loss despite
generating £21.3 million in revenue.
