Chelsea’s new generation took centre stage at Stamford Bridge as three teenage scorers fired the Blues to a record-breaking 5–1 victory over Ajax in the Champions League.
It was a night that symbolised the dawn of a youthful era under Enzo Maresca. Marc Guiu, 19, opened the floodgates midway through the first half, briefly becoming Chelsea’s youngest-ever scorer in the competition before Ajax captain Kenneth Taylor’s reckless red card deepened the visitors’ misery.
The chaos continued when Enzo Fernandez converted a penalty after a clumsy foul by Wout Weghorst, and moments later 18-year-old Estevao Willian stepped up to take Chelsea’s third spot-kick of the night, scoring confidently to break Guiu’s record and write his own piece of club history.
Moises Caicedo’s thumping long-range strike made it 4–1 before half-time, after Weghorst had pulled one back from the spot. Ajax’s defending was disjointed, their discipline in tatters, and their confidence in ruins.
The second half brought more milestones. Tyrique George, 19, came off the bench and found the net within three minutes, becoming Chelsea’s third teenage scorer of the night. Not long after, 17-year-old Reggie Walsh came on to make his Champions League debut – the youngest ever for the club.
By the hour mark, the job was done. Maresca’s men eased off, resting key figures like Caicedo and Fernandez, yet the sense of dominance lingered. Ajax, four-time European champions, looked a shadow of their storied past, rooted to the bottom of the Champions League’s expanded table with three defeats from three.
