Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila Supports Hospital Patients and New Mothers in Lagos

Lagos, Nigeria – In a heartfelt initiative aimed at easing the burden on families facing medical expenses, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President and former Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, generously covered medical bills totalling N53 million for patients across several hospitals in Lagos.

On January 3, 2026, Gbajabiamila visited the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) and two other general hospitals in Surulere, where he settled N33.6 million in bills for patients at LUTH and an additional N8.6 million at the Femi Gbajabiamila General Hospital. His actions were motivated by compassion, especially during the festive season when many families struggle to pay for medical care.

“During this time of celebration, we must remember those who are less fortunate,” Gbajabiamila stated. “It’s our collective responsibility to support those who find themselves in difficult situations.” He urged wealthier members of the community to extend their hands to those in need, emphasizing the importance of solidarity in challenging times.

In addition to aiding hospital patients, Gbajabiamila celebrated the arrival of the first baby of the year, Baby Yusuf, born at 12:01 AM at the Gbaja Maternal and Child Centre. The Chief of Staff presented cash gifts to the mothers of the newborns, spreading joy and goodwill within the community.

Upon his arrival at LUTH, Gbajabiamila was warmly received by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Wasiu Lanre Adeyemi, who expressed deep gratitude for the timely assistance. “This support comes at a crucial time for many of our patients, and we appreciate Mr. Gbajabiamila’s generosity,” Prof. Adeyemi remarked.

As the New Year begins, Gbajabiamila’s actions serve as a reminder of the power of community and compassion, encouraging others to follow suit in uplifting those in need.
