Chukwueze Opens Up on Milan Struggles After Fulham Revival

Samuel Chukwueze has admitted that limited opportunities at AC Milan hindered his development before his season-long loan move to Fulham, where he has regained his form.

The Nigerian winger joined Fulham from Milan in the summer, with the Premier League side holding an option to buy in a deal reportedly worth over €25 million.

Chukwueze had a difficult spell at Milan after moving from Villarreal in 2023, starting only nine of 26 Serie A matches and scoring three goals with two assists.

“I don’t think I was given the time or the opportunities I needed,” Chukwueze said. “But that’s football. I just have to keep working. Maybe one day I’ll return to Serie A, or La Liga, or stay in the Premier League. English football probably suits my style better than Italian tactics.”

Despite flourishing in England, Chukwueze said his ties with Milan remain strong. “I miss Milan. It’s my second home. My family are still there, so of course I miss the city. They are doing well and I wish them all the best. I’m still a Milan player, after all, because I’m only on loan.”

He also praised Milan’s current campaign, backing the club to finish in the top four.

On international duty at Africa Cup of Nations inn Morocco, Chukwueze impressed in Nigeria’s opening 2-1 win over Tanzania, playing 59 minutes in the victory.
