AC Milan manager Sergio Conceicao insists his focus is solely on the Champions League ahead of Wednesday’s crucial away match against Dinamo Zagreb, dismissing any thoughts about the upcoming Serie A derby against Inter Milan.
Milan, currently sixth in the European standings with 15 points, have already secured a playoff spot.
However, a win in Zagreb would guarantee a place in the Champions League round of 16.
Despite sitting seventh in Serie A and needing improvement to qualify for next season’s competition, Conceicao has no plans to rest players for Sunday’s derby.
“I think game by game, I don’t plan two matches at once,” Conceicao said. “We are focused on achieving our next goal—finishing in the top eight in the Champions League. The derby will be on our minds after this match.”
Inter, title contenders in Serie A, sit second with 50 points, while Milan trail them by 16 points after 21 games.
Conceicao, who guided Milan to an Italian Super Cup victory over Inter earlier this month, remains cautious about Champions League expectations.
“Our goal is a top-four finish in Serie A,” he added. “Thinking too far ahead can lead to mistakes.”
Dinamo Zagreb, sitting 26th with eight points, must win to keep their playoff hopes alive, adding another layer of intensity to Wednesday’s clash.
