The Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL), a nationwide umbrella body representing youth groups across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, has declared its endorsement of Seyi Tinubu for the 2027 Lagos governorship race, describing it as “a divine call to leadership” rather than a political move.
In a statement issued to Nigerian Tribune, CONYL President-General, Comrade Goodluck Ibem, said the decision reflects Seyi Tinubu’s “vast experience, unwavering integrity, and visionary outlook for Lagos State.”
“We stand united in the conviction that he possesses the qualities needed to take Lagos to greater heights,” Ibem stated. “His proven record of leadership, commitment to public service, and dedication to community development distinguish him as the right candidate for this critical role.”
The group also referenced remarks by Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Bola Tinubu, who stressed that Seyi Tinubu’s presidential lineage does not diminish his own qualifications to govern Lagos.
According to CONYL, Seyi Tinubu represents a new generation of leadership defined by integrity, competence, and inclusiveness. They praised his ability to bring diverse groups together and highlighted his vision for Lagos, which focuses on economic growth, infrastructure upgrades, education reform, and improved social welfare.
The coalition called on stakeholders, community leaders, and citizens to rally behind Seyi Tinubu’s candidacy, describing the 2027 governorship race as “a defining moment in the state’s history.”
“With unity of purpose,” Ibem added, “we can build a Lagos founded on equity, prosperity, and sustainability, and set the state on a path to unprecedented achievements.”
