Justice Peter Kekemeke of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday directed security agencies to seize copies of the book by Dele Farotimi, “Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System”. The ruling follows an ex parte application filed by Kehinde Ogunwumiju, SAN, a managing partner at Afe Babalola’s Emmanuel Chambers.

The application accused the Nigerian Activist and Lawyer, Dele Farotimi of defamation against senior lawyer Afe Babalola, citing allegations made in the book about judicial corruption.

Furthermore, the court order named various bookstores, including Amazon, Rovingheights, Jazzhole Lagos, and Patabah Books, directing them to halt distribution and sales immediately.

Agencies such as the Nigeria Police Force, State Security Service, and Civil Defence Corps are to report compliance within 72 hours.

Farotimi, arrested in Lagos earlier this month and transferred to Ekiti, faces multiple lawsuits, including one filed by the Inspector General of Police.

Since his arrest, demand for the book has surged, with physical and online outlets reporting stock shortages.
