Crystal Palace have taken their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after being dropped from the Europa League to the Conference League due to breaches of UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules.
The appeal is against UEFA, French side Lyon, and Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest.
The Eagles argue that John Textor, who owns shares in Palace and holds a controlling stake in Lyon, does not exert decisive influence over the London club.
Palace are asking for UEFA’s ruling to be annulled and to be reinstated in the Europa League in place of either Forest or Lyon.
Should the appeal fail, Forest who finished seventh in the Premier League are expected to take Palace’s Europa League spot.
A final decision is expected by 11 August, ahead of the Conference League play-off round later that month. Palace chairman Steve Parish remains confident the decision can be overturned.
