Dangote Foundation Unveils N16 Billion Food Aid for One Million Nigerians

The Aliko Dangote Foundation has launched its 2025 Annual National Food Intervention Project where it committed N16 billion to provide food relief for one million vulnerable Nigerians across the country.

The foundation’s chairman, Aliko Dangote, who spoke at the inaugural ceremony in Kano on Thursday March, 13, 2025 – represented by his daughter, Marya Aliko-Dangote stressed that the initiative reflects the foundation’s commitment to mitigating economic hardship. He depicted the project as a demonstration of compassion and collective responsibility which is in alignment with the foundation’s wider mission to enhance the lives of Nigerians.

The intervention will see the distribution of one million 10kg bags of rice across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas with a strategic partnership between the foundation and state governments to ensure the aid reaches target beneficiaries. Dangote reaffirmed the foundation’s determination to addressing food insecurity, enhancing access to clean water, improving healthcare and education and fostering economic empowerment at the grassroots level.

He also called on industrialists and corporate organizations to join in curbing hunger through impactful initiatives by highlighting the significance of public-private collaboration in combating poverty. Dangote lauded the government’s ongoing efforts in addressing the food crisis and encouraged further collective action to ease the economic challenges facing the country.
