The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has achieved a major milestone with the export of its first-ever shipment of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, to Cameroon. This historic transaction was executed through a strategic partnership with Neptune Oil, a leading Cameroonian energy firm, marking a new chapter in regional energy cooperation.

In a statement on Wednesday, the refinery emphasized that the collaboration underscores the commitment of both companies to addressing Africa’s growing energy needs while strengthening economic ties between Nigeria and Cameroon. “This milestone, resulting from a strategic collaboration between the two companies, underscores their commitment to strengthening economic ties between Nigeria and Cameroon while meeting the region’s growing energy demands,” the statement read.

The export highlights the Dangote Refinery’s capacity not only to meet Nigeria’s domestic energy requirements but also to position itself as a key player in the regional energy market. As Africa’s largest refinery, it aims to transform the continent’s energy landscape by ensuring that African resources are refined and utilized locally to drive economic development.

Aliko Dangote, president and CEO of Dangote Group, described the export as a pivotal step toward achieving energy independence across Africa. “With this development, we are laying the foundation for a future where African resources are refined and exchanged within the continent for the benefit of our people,” Dangote stated.

Antoine Ndzengue, director and owner of Neptune Oil, also hailed the partnership as transformative for Cameroon’s energy sector. “By becoming the first importer of petroleum products from this world-class refinery, we are bolstering our country’s energy security and supporting local economic development,” he said. Ndzengue added that the deal’s execution without international intermediaries highlights the companies’ commitment to efficient and independent service delivery.

The partnership goes beyond this initial export, with both companies exploring initiatives to create a stable supply chain aimed at stabilizing fuel prices and unlocking economic opportunities across the region. For Cameroon, the collaboration provides access to high-quality petroleum products while enhancing energy security.
