Belgium made it two wins from two in their World Cup qualifying campaign, edging a chaotic 4–3 win over Wales in Brussels.
The Red Devils raced into a 3–0 lead inside 35 minutes but were forced to dig deep after a second-half Welsh resurgence threatened to spoil the party.
Romelu Lukaku opened the scoring from the penalty spot after a Brennan Johnson handball, before Youri Tielemans and Jérémy Doku added two quickfire goals to put the hosts firmly in control.
But just before the break, Wales pulled one back through a Harry Wilson penalty, setting the stage for a tense second half.
The visitors struck twice in the space of 10 minutes after the restart, with Sorba Thomas and Johnson completing a stunning comeback to make it 3–3.
Belgium, stunned but unshaken, responded with composure. Lukaku had a goal ruled out, but Kevin De Bruyne stepped up in the 78th minute, arriving at the far post to fire home the winner from a Tielemans cross.
While Belgium’s defensive lapses will concern Domenico Tedesco, the Red Devils showed resilience to hold off a determined Welsh side and stay top of Group J.
