Former Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye, has dismissed the chances of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) staging a comeback, insisting the opposition party is “dead and buried” and now under the influence of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in an interview on Arise Television, Melaye claimed the PDP no longer functions independently, alleging that its affairs are being directed from the Presidential Villa.

“Apart from our Lord Jesus Christ, no dead can rise again. PDP is dead and buried. The party was sold, and I doubt if they even collected a receipt. What you have today is an APC-controlled PDP,” he declared.

Melaye, who had previously contested elections under the PDP platform, accused unnamed APC agents of infiltrating the party and manipulating its leadership.

Turning attention to his political future, Melaye confirmed his membership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as the only credible opposition platform capable of unseating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

“I’m a proud member of the ADC, and by the grace of God, that is the party that will unseat Tinubu and send APC packing from the Villa by May 29, 2027,” he stated.

He, however, urged Nigerians to shift focus from the PDP’s decline to the urgent socio-economic challenges confronting the nation.

“There are critical issues bedevilling this country: hunger, malnutrition, misgovernance, and maladministration. Those are the issues we should be talking about, not a dead party,” Melaye stressed.
