DORTMUND

Borussia Dortmund booked their place in the FIFA Club World Cup last 16 after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Ulsan HD in Cincinnati, with Daniel Svensson’s first-half strike proving decisive.

Needing only a draw to progress, Dortmund controlled possession but found Ulsan keeper Jo Hyeon-woo in inspired form.

He made excellent saves to deny Serhou Guirassy, Pascal Gross, and Yan Couto, and kept his side in the contest throughout.

Svensson finally broke the deadlock in the 36th minute after being set up by Jobe Bellingham, who was lively throughout despite wasting a few chances of his own.

Ulsan improved after the break and forced a couple of saves from Gregor Kobel, but couldn’t find an equaliser.
