Borussia Dortmund coach Niko Kovac praised his team’s resilience after their 2-1 comeback win over Lille in the Champions League but admitted they will need to step up against Barcelona in the quarter-finals.
Trailing early in France after a 1-1 draw in the first leg, Dortmund responded with two second-half goals to secure a 3-2 aggregate victory.
“It was a great team effort,” Kovac told DAZN. “We dominated despite conceding first and created plenty of chances, which shows our quality.”
Looking ahead, Kovac acknowledged Barcelona’s superior level but remained optimistic.
“Lille are strong, but Barcelona are on another level,” he said. “We’ll need to be sharp in possession and defend well. But we have pace and quality to hurt them too.”
Dortmund will now prepare for their biggest European test of the season against the Spanish giants
