Doyin Okupe, Former Presidential Spokesperson, Is Dead

Doyin Okupe, a prominent Nigerian political figure and former presidential spokesperson, has passed away.

It was reliably gathered and confirmed on Friday that he died from remission of cancer in Lagos overnight.

Okupe was widely known for his role as the Director-General of Peter Obi’s presidential campaign but was forced to step down after being convicted for money laundering.

Following the 2023 general election, he resigned from the Labour Party and became an outspoken supporter of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Before these roles, Okupe was a senior adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan.
