Nigeria’s D’Tigers have been handed a tough draw in Group B of the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket, where they will battle reigning champions Tunisia, perennial contenders Cameroon, and unpredictable Madagascar from August 12 to 24 in Angola.

The draw, conducted in Luanda on Friday, was based on the FIBA World Rankings and saw the 2015 champions placed in one of the competition’s most competitive groups.

Tunisia, who have won three titles including a 2017 final victory over Nigeria, will again be one of the favourites.

Cameroon, runners-up in 2007, could prove a formidable challenge if NBA star Pascal Siakam makes himself available, while Madagascar will be making just their fourth appearance, having last featured in 2011.

Nigeria, seeking redemption after a disappointing AfroBasket 2021 campaign that ended in a pre-quarterfinal loss to Uganda, will aim to improve under the new tournament format hosted across two Angolan cities.

Group stage games will be split between Luanda and Namibe, with the capital also set to host the latter stages.
